African Economic Research Consortium (AERC)

The African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) is a premier public policy research institution in Africa focused on economic policy research and training. Established in 1988, AERC is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Its mission is to strengthen local capacity for conducting independent, rigorous inquiry into problems pertinent to the management of economies in sub-Saharan Africa. The consortium brings together researchers from across the continent and globally to address economic policy challenges facing African nations. AERC supports a broad array of activities including thematic research programs, collaborative research projects, capacity building in economic policy analysis and management, and dissemination of findings through workshops, seminars, and publications. AERC's work significantly contributes to the development of economic policies and scholarly economic research in Africa.
