From July 29 to August 1, the representatives from the Secretariat and the Executive Committee of the International Cooperation Center (ICC) Joint Council paid a visit to Malaysia in respond to the invitation from the International Economic and Social Council of Malaysia (IESCM). They were received in Kuala Lumpur by Princess Tengku Faizwa of Malaysia, Chairwoman of the IESCM and Stanley Hu Jie Yao, Secretary-General of the IESCM. During their visit, representatives of both sides conducted in-depth discussions on further implementing the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement”, jointly preparing for building the permanent venue for the “Selangor International Cooperation Forum” and deepening collaboration in various sectors between China and Malaysia.

In Kuala Lumpur, Mr. Xin Shaosong, Executive Deputy Director of the ICC Office, briefed Mr. Ouyang Yujing, the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, on the ICC’s efforts in fostering China-Malaysia friendship and bilateral cooperation. In Malaysia’s federal administrative center, Putrajaya, the ICC delegation met with Dato’ Norman Muhamad, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both sides concurred that the bilateral relations are gaining sound and robust momentum. Extensive consensus has been reached in political mutual trust, economic and trade cooperation, as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, which heralds great potential in pragmatic cooperation in such fields. The ICC should play a crucial role in further promoting the amity between the two peoples and regional development and revitalization.

During their visit to Malaysia, the ICC delegation also paid a visit to the Immigration Department of the Malaysian Federal Government. Ayub Bin Abd Rahman, Director of the Foreign Worker Division of Immigration Department of Malaysia, met with ICC representatives, including Wu Zhonglin, Executive Director of the ICC Development Committee. Discussions revolved around Malaysia’s foreign labor policies and the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises in Malaysia. The ICC delegation also met with Du Hanhui, COO of the Malaysia-China Business Council, at the council’s office building. The two sides exchanged views and agreed on further cooperation in economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.
