On November 22, the opening ceremony of Belt and Road Global Chambers of Commerce and Association Conference (GCCAC) 2023 was held in Fuzhou, Fujian province. With the theme of “Linking Global Chambers and Associations, Promoting Quality Belt and Road Cooperation” , the conference has attracted more than 1,000 guests from more than 200 business associations from countries and regions worldwide, such as the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Armenia, Indonesia, and Tonga.
The representatives of the International Cooperation Center (ICC), including Wu Zhonglin, Executive Director of the Development Committee of the ICC and Deputy Director of the Overseas Chinese Working Committee of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the China Zhigong Party, were invited to attend the GCCAC 2023. They also met with H.E. Mr. Baudelaire NDONG ELLA, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Gabonese Republic to China , Kadirkamu Kandasamy Yoganaadan, chargé d'affaires of Sri Lanka's Embassy in China, Unny Sankar Ravi Sankar, Minister (Economic Affairs) of the Embassy of Malaysia in China, Faith Planas Bautista, Philippine Economic, Cultural and Political Official in China, as well as Barnabas Henson, Secretary-General of Solomon Islands–China Friendship Association and had in-depth exchanges with each other.
On the sidelines of the GCCAC 2023, the Development Committee of the ICC hosted a banquet in Fuzhou for some diplomatic envoys, heads of business associations of relevant countries and regions and representatives from foreign institutions who attended the conference. At the banquet, they had discussions over topics such as economic and trade exchanges and sustainable development among countries and regions since the inception of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) a decade ago. They jointly explored opportunities for international cooperation and shared successful cooperation experience under the BRI framework, so as to strengthen high-quality development of the Belt and Road.

The GCCAC is the first non-governmental international cooperation platform for social organizations, such as international chambers of commerce and industry associations, which has already grown into an influential international commerce and trade event. The participants of the GCCAC 2023 held dialogues and exchanges around topics such as interconnectivity in multiple areas and high-quality Belt and Road Cooperation, and aired their views and feelings on the fruits of the BRI’s evolution from concept to action, from vision to reality. The conference also held seven sub-forums such as the forum on “Chinese Brands Going Overseas”.
