In August 2024, Zhang Zhixiang, member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the International Cooperation Center(ICC) Joint Council , Chairman of the International Monetary Research Committee and former Executive Director of China at International Monetary Fund (IMF) , visited Washington, the United States. During his visit to Washington, Mr. Zhang Zhixiang was invited to visit the Chinese Embassy in the United States, the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and exchanged views with member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

On August 6, Jing Quan, DCM & Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, warmly welcomed Zhang Zhixiang to visit the Embassy. The two sides reviewed the development of bilateral relations over the past 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. Jing Quan briefed Zhang Zhixiang on the general situation of the new Chinese Embassy in the United States and the recent public diplomacy activities of the Embassy. Zhang Zhixiang exchanged views with Jing Quan on the cooperation between ICC Joint Council and the United Nations system in China, the reform of the international monetary system and the study of global debt issues, as well as the current China-US dialogue at all levels and other topics of common concern. Zhang Hua, IMF officials and Lin Lu, Second Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in the United States attended the meeting.
Zhang Zhixiang and Fariborz Ghadar
On August 8, Zhang Zhixiang met with Fariborz Ghadar, a member of the Advisory Board and senior advisor of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), in Washington. Zhang Zhixiang briefed Fariborz Ghadar on the cooperation between the ICC Joint Council and the internationally renowned institutions such as the IMF to carry out research on the reform of the international monetary system and other major multilateral issues. Fariborz Ghadar said that he agrees with the ICC Joint Council and the CSIS to strengthen high-level visits, and will convey the consensus of the talks to the management of the CSIS and the H.E. Ambassador Charles Freeman, and promote the establishment of exchange & cooperation mechanisms between the two institutions.
