On December 2, Nepali Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli, who is on an official visit to China, met with Mu Dong the Asia-Pacific Affairs Advisor of the International Cooperation Center Joint Council (ICC) in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth discussions on further consolidating and deepening bilateral relations under the new circumstances, implementing China-Nepal joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and exchanges and cooperation in various fields, exchanged in-depth views on international and regional issues of common interest and reached important consensus. The year 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Nepal. The two sides discussed in particular relevant arrangements to celebrate this historic anniversary. The ICC and Nepal will take this opportunity to continuously promote bilateral high-level exchanges and friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, push for new development of China-Nepal relations, and contribute to peace and stability in Asia.

Prime Minister Oli said he was full of expectations for his visit to China to meet with Chinese leaders. During the talks, the two sides indicated that the all-round friendly relations between China and Nepal, based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, had been strengthened over time and became a good example of friendly coexistence between countries with different social systems and large or small countries. The two countries have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and built an even closer China-Nepal community with a shared future. In recent years, the two countries have adhered to the original intention of establishing diplomatic ties and consolidated traditional friendship. China and Nepal have maintained close exchanges at all levels and achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. The Global Development Initiative (GDI) and other important initiatives proposed by China are conducive to the joint response of mankind to the current complex international situation and global challenges. The two sides should promote China and Nepal to strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral institutions to safeguard the common interests of the Global South.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, a longtime chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist Leninist), was the country's Prime Minister three times in 2015, 2018 and 2021, and made two official visits to China as Nepali Prime Minister in 2016 and 2018.
