On January 14, 2025, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen and the United Nations Resident Coordinator Siddharth Chatterjee co-chaired and convened the meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for China (“UNSDCF”). The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in China, and 21 UN agencies in China including UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and UNIDO, as well as 20 Chinese entities such as the Department of International Economic and Trade Relations of the Ministry of Commerce, the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of International Cooperation of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Department of International Cooperation of the National Health Commission, the Liaison Department of the All-China Women's Federation and the International Cooperation Center (ICC) attended the Joint Steering Committee meeting or participated in the meeting via online video link.

The meeting held that under the current UNSDCF (2021-2025),the Chinese side and relevant UN agencies have closely collaborated on key areas and achieved positive results in fields such as agriculture and rural development, healthcare, biodiversity, climate change, renewable energy, and South-South cooperation. The Chinese side and UN agencies are currently formulating the new Cooperation Framework (2026-2030). Both sides should further enhance cooperation, plan practical collaboration in areas such as education, healthcare, rural revitalization, elderly care and child care, and green and low-carbon development, to support high-quality development and the advancement of China's modernization, and promote the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
