The Special Representative of the ICC Meets with Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun

On 10 April 2025, Zhang Yu, Convenor of the Joint Meeting and the Director of the Steering Committee of the International Cooperation Center Joint Council (ICC), met with Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China, in Beijing. Both sides pointed out that under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries in recent years, high-level exchanges between the two countries have been close contact, economic and trade investment cooperation has continued to grow, and people-to-people exchanges have been deepened. The continuous strong development momentum of the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Indonesia will contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world. The two sides discussed "consolidating the high-level strategic mutual trust relationship between the two sides", "strengthening communication and coordination on international and regional issues", and "closely cooperating within multilateral frameworks and mechanisms such as the United Nations", and exchanged in-depth views on regional and international issues of common concern, reaching important consensus.

Both sides noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, and the 620th anniversary of Zheng He's voyages to the Western Seas. The world is undergoing profound changes in an unprecedented way, and the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation. Continuously carrying forward the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the "Bandung Spirit", it endows the generation with new contemporary connotations, promoting the building of a new type of international relations with win-win cooperation at its core is of great significant in guiding the trend of the times. It shapes the direction of human development, and safeguarding the common well-being of humanity. As two major developing countries, emerging market economies, and key forces in the "Global South", China and Indonesia share similar development stages, common interests, compatible ideas, and closely related futures and destinies. The development of bilateral relations holds major strategic significance and far-reaching global influence. The ICC will establish a "1.5 Track" exchange and consultation mechanism with the Embassy of Indonesia in China, to promote the building of China-Indonesia community with a shared future that has regional and global influence, and to write a new chapter of unity, cooperation, and mutual benefit for major developing countries.

Both sides agreed to view and enhance China-Indonesia relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, and exchanged views on current international hot issues. Both also had positive discussions on topics such as high-level mutual visits, cultural exchanges, and youth interactions between the two countries. Mu Dong, the Asia-Pacific Affairs Advisor of the ICC, Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary-General of the ICC, Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Working Committee at the ICC, Wu Zhonglin, Executive Director of the Development Committee at the ICC, and Xin Shaosong, Deputy Director of the ICC's Office; Parulian Silalahi, Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) and Minister of the Indonesian Embassy in China, Sari Widita, Counsellor of the Economy Section of the Embassy, Bayu Listyaghi, First Secretary of Creative Economy and Public Diplomacy of the Embassy, and Dewi Irianingsih, Technical and Administrative Staff of the Embassy, attended the meeting.
