The Special Representative of the ICC Attend the Luncheon Exchange Held By UN Resident Coordinator in China

At the invitation of H.E. Siddharth Chatterjee, UN Resident Coordinator in China, Mr. Zhang Yu, Convener of the Joint Meeting and Director of the Steering Committee of the International Cooperation Center (ICC), attended a luncheon exchange hosted by the UN Resident Coordinator in China at the UN Compound in Beijing on February 28. Among those present at the discussion were H.E. Mr. Dan-Horia Maxim, Ambassador of Romania to China; H.E. Mr. Selçuk Ünal, Ambassador of Türkiye to China; H.E. Dr. Patricia Hildegard Flor, Ambassador of Germany to China; H.E. Mr. Shakhrat Nuryshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China; H.E. Mr. Farhod Arziev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to China; H.E. Mr. Willy Kipkorir Bett, Ambassador of Kenya to China; Ms. Lynette Mwende Ndile, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Kenya in China; and Dr. Ulf Hausbrandt, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Austria in China. Ms. Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary General of the ICC, and officials from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in China also attended the meeting.

Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee assumed the post of UN Resident Coordinator in China on January 16, 2021. As the highest-ranking resident representative of the UN development system, he serves as the designated representative of the UN Secretary-General and reports directly to the Secretary-General. With over 25 years of experience in international cooperation, sustainable development, humanitarian coordination, and peace and security. Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee has held senior representative roles with UNDP, UNFPA, and UNOPS across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. On April 14, 2021, he presented his letter of credentials to Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People.

The UN Resident Coordinator in China leads the UN Country Team and all UN entities operating in China, uniting agencies to boost the efficiency of country-level development operations and strengthen the UN’s partnership with the government to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Office of the Resident Coordinator (RCO) supports the Resident Coordinator and the UN system in China. It provides coordination for the UN Country Team and inter-agency mechanisms, including thematic working groups.
