On 12 March 2026, the International Cooperation Center (ICC) and the Embassy of Pakistan to China held a symposium on regional situation & development and China-Pakistan relations. Ms. Zhou Hong, Chairperson of the Academic Committee of the ICC and Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Mr. Zhang Yu, Convener of the Joint Meeting and Director of the Steering Committee of the ICC, met with H.E. Mr. Khalil Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, at the Jianguomen Office of the ICC, and jointly attended the symposium. The meeting represents an important step for both sides to follow the general trend of the world and regional development dynamics, and advance the implementation of the long-term "1.5-track" dialogue mechanism between the ICC and the Embassy of Pakistan to China. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on strategic, forward-looking and comprehensive issues in China-Pakistan bilateral relations, held fruitful discussions on the current international and regional situation and development, and achieved the expected outcomes of the talks.

The Two Sides Held Exchanges and Discussions
Both sides stated that they will implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, further strengthen communication and coordination on international and regional issues, firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests, advance the building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future to a deeper and more substantive level, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability. Aizaz Khan, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Pakistan to China, attended the meeting. Also present at the meeting were Zhu Hongshan, Special Representative of Economic Affairs of the ICC; Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary-General of the ICC; Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Working Committee of the ICC; Wu Zhonglin, Executive Director of the Development Committee of the ICC; as well as Muhammad Omar, Political Counselor and Chief of Staff of the Embassy of Pakistan to China, Haseeb Gohar, Political Counselor of the Embassy of Pakistan to China, Uzair Waqar Ul Haq, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan to China, and Zainab Tayyab, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan to China.
