Ambassador of Türkiye to China Selcuk Unal Visits the ICC

On 3 April 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to China Selcuk Unal visits the Jianguomen Office of the International Cooperation Center (ICC). Ma Shengrong, Chief Expert of the ICC and Former Vice President and Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency, and Zhang Yu, Convener of the Joint Meeting and Director of the Steering Committee of the ICC, meet with Ambassador Selcuk Unal. During their talks, the two sides, bearing in mind the overriding global and regional trends, shared the view that China-Türkiye relations should be viewed and advanced from a strategic and long-term perspective. The two sides agreed that the ICC and the Embassy of Türkiye in China will establish a long-term 1.5-track dialogue and consultation mechanism between the two countries, which will play an important role in strengthening strategic coordination between China and Türkiye. The two sides held in-depth exchanges on strategic, forward-looking and comprehensive issues in bilateral relations, conducted fruitful discussions on the evolving international and regional landscape, and achieved the expected outcomes of the meeting.

Meeting Between the Two Sides

The two sides stated that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Türkiye. The Embassy of Türkiye in China and the ICC will jointly hold a high-level thematic event to commemorate the occasion. Taking this opportunity, the two sides will deepen strategic communication and coordination on major regional and international affairs, enhance mutual support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, and elevate bilateral relations to a new level. The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on important topics including the current situation in the Middle East and the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Türkiye’s Middle Corridor Initiative. The two sides agreed to respond rationally to the current crises from a long-term and fundamental interest perspective, stay committed to resolving differences through dialogue, jointly uphold the international order and norms, safeguard international fairness and justice, and contribute to world peace and development. Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary-General of the ICC,  Orhan Aydın, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Türkiye to China, attended the meeting.
