ICC Meets with the Pakistani Ambassador Delegation

On 7 September 2026, Zhou Hong, Chairperson of the Academic Committee of the International Cooperation Center (ICC) and Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), met in Beijing with a Pakistani delegation led by H.E. Salman Bashir, former Foreign Secretary and former Ambassador of Pakistan to China. Both sides reviewed the development of China-Pakistan relations over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. They conducted in-depth exchanges on strategic, forward-looking and comprehensive issues concerning bilateral relations, and exchanged views on coordination and collaboration under multilateral mechanisms, effective responses to global challenges, as well as the prevailing international and regional situation.

Zhang Zhixiang, Member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the ICC and former Executive Director of China to the IMF; Zhang Chunxiang, former Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan; Luo Ge, former Vice Administrator of China National Space Administration (CNSA); Zhang Yu, Convener of the Joint Meeting and Director of the Steering Committee of the ICC; H.E. Masood Khalid, former Pakistani Ambassador to China; H.E. Tehmina Janjua, former Foreign Secretary of Pakistan and former Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Geneva Office; H.E. Naghmana A. Hashmi, former Pakistani Ambassador to China; and H.E. Moin ul Haque, former Pakistani Ambassador to China, attended the meeting as well as the welcome dinner hosted by the ICC on the same day.

The two sides also discussed other matters of common concern. Attending the meeting were Chinese representatives including Mu Dong, Special Representative of Asia-Pacific Affairs at the ICC; Cheng Yu, Executive Secretary-General of the ICC; Zhang Bin, Deputy Director of the  Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Working Affairs Committee at the ICC; Wu Zhonglin, Executive Director of the Development Committee at the ICC; Xin Shaosong, Executive Deputy Director of the Secretariat Office at the ICC. Pakistani representatives present included Naheed Naveed Atif, Political Counsellor of the Embassy of Pakistan in China and Permanent Representative to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and Muhammad Shaaz, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Pakistan in China.
