Chinese Elements in Algeria, the Host Country of the Arab League Summit

The 31st Summit of the League of Arab States (Arab League Summit) will be held in Algeria soon. From the "Made in China" on the banknotes of the country to the Chinese "Hello" from local friends, the rich Chinese elements are the epitome of the special and profound friendship between China and Algeria.

From modern theaters to highways and bridges, from airports to foreign ministry buildings, from professional football fields to residential buildings, Chinese builders have participated in projects all over Algeria, many of which have become landmarks.

The main venue of the summit of the Arab League, the Algiers International Conference Center, was constructed by a Chinese company, covering an area of 270,000 square meters and can accommodate over 20,000 participants at the same time.

The guidebook issued by the host country lists the Algiers Grand Mosque built by a Chinese company. This landmark is also featured on the Algerian 1000 dinar banknote.

The pattern on the 500 dinar banknote is the Algeria-1 communication satellite developed and launched by China . This is the first cooperation project between China and Algeria in the aerospace field, and it is also Algeria's first communication satellite, which can cover the entire territory of Algeria, especially providing communication services for people in remote areas. Algerian economist Faris Masdour once praised that this reflects that the cooperation between China and Algeria has reached an important strategic level.

Walking together through the storm

The friendship between the two countries lies in the friendship between the people. Take Algiers, the capital, as an example. Many locals greet Chinese people with "Ni Hao" in Chinese. There is a "Beijing Road" in the city center. Various details reflect the extraordinary emotional bond between the people of the two countries.

People-to-people friendship is rooted in the profound traditional friendship between China and Arab states. The Chinese government and people provided support and assistance to Algeria's independent revolution, and China was the first non-Arab country to recognize Algeria. Algeria is one of the first African countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to restore China's legal seat in the United Nations, and Algeria played an important role in the proposal process at that time.
