On November 30, the Institute of Global Governance and Development of Renmin University of China (RUC) held the 2024 Global Governance and Development Forum at the Li De Building of RUC. The theme of this year's forum is "the world and China under the accelerating great changes", with in-depth discussions on issues such as the policy direction of the United States after the election, international security hotspots, changes in the world economy, and China's economic development. Ma Shengrong, Chief Expert of the International Cooperation Center Joint Council (ICC), former Vice President and Executive Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua News Agency; Shi Mingde, President of the China Germany Friendship Association and former Chinese Ambassador to Germany attended and delivered speeches at the forum. Zhou Qi, Dean of the Institute of Global Governance and Development of the RUC, presided over the forum and delivered keynote speech and concluded remarks at the forum.
In the discussion on the topic of "global shocks caused by regime change in the United States", the participating experts and scholars conducted an in-depth analysis of the political changes in the United States and their impacts on the global economic and political order. Experts pointed out that the change of the US regime may trigger political and economic uncertainties around the world, requiring countries to remain vigilant and strengthen cooperation to jointly cope with possible risks and challenges. Based on the discussion of the political changes in the United States and their impacts, the topic of "regional security hotspots" focused on the current regional conflicts and security challenges in the global scope, and discussed the Russia Ukraine conflict, the Middle East crisis, the Korean Peninsula crisis, the Taiwan question, the South China Sea issue, China-India relations and other global security hotspots. The participants agreed that regional security is an important cornerstone for maintaining world peace and stability, and countries should strengthen dialogue and cooperation to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
