The Symposium on International Strategic Issues Was Held

On 24 April 2025, the Institute of Peaceful Development at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the International Cooperation Center (ICC) held a symposium on "International Strategic Issues Research" in Beijing. The symposium focused on topics such as "Current International Situation and Our Responsibilities and Missions" and "Experiences and Suggestions for Conducting Research on International Strategic Issues". Zhang Yu, the convener of the Joint Meeting and director of the Steering Committee of the ICC, Zhang Tianyu, the executive deputy director of the Institute of Peaceful Development at CASS, respectively introduced the background and relevant circumstances of the symposium.

Zhou Hong, chairman of the Academic Committee of the ICC, academician and former director of the Department of International Studies of the CASS, delivered a speech on experiences and suggestions for conducting research on international strategic issues. Zhang Zhixiang, member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the ICC, chairman of the International Monetary Research Committee and former executive director of the International Monetary Fund for China, Li Jianxing, expert of the ICC and former deputy editor-in-chief and Party Secretary of the Overseas Edition of People's Daily, and many other experts and scholars made speeches successively. Wang Lei, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, former Director of the Guard Bureau and Major General, attended the meeting as an observer. Ma Shengrong, Chief Expert of the ICC and former vice president and executive deputy editor-in-chief of Xinhua News Agency, concluded the meeting.

The symposium also discussed other matters. Mu Dong, the Asia-Pacific affairs advisor of the ICC, Cheng Yu, the executive secretary-general of the ICC, Zhang Bin, the deputy director of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Working Committee at the ICC, and Xin Shaosong, the deputy director of the ICC's Office, and relevant persons from the Institute of Peaceful Development of CASS attended the symposium.
